    Default Renge stone

So I just bought three stones a while back from some guy on another forum, claimed they were japanese hones and I saw the pics and for the money I figured I couldn't go wrong. So anyway of the three stones one is an asagi from nakayama and I figured I would use that one for razors and the rest to mess around with. The edge of of that stone was unbelievable, bbs shaves all the time.
Today for some reason decided to lap all three and while the two other ones are gray and have some renge in them I didn't consider them finisher and boy was I wrong... partially. One of the stones is greyer and after lapping a ton and a half of renge appeared on the surface, I am talking pinkish, whitish, redish renge all over and having just finished restoring (for me making usable not beautifying as some of the people around here with mad skills) a puma razor I decided to put an edge on it and shave.
Started off a dmt xc set the bevel and believe it or not jumped to the renge with slurry started to work on it and used the diluting method after I was done in about 20 min the thing was sharper than any other razor I have ever used BBS has never been so easy to achieve and the comfort o man. I don't have a camera right now but will post pics tomorrow. Just thought I would share this.
BTW anyone have any info on renges? I thought they were like 5kish...

I used the camera from my pc just to get some pics to watch, this thing is a killer finisher, I used to think my Asagi was the biz but this thing is a notch above it I think I will never find a finer finisher.

OK, I'll bite - what Japanese stone feature is/are renge? (I'm guessing this is pronounced REN-geyh?)

I can never learn enough about Japanese naturals, inquiring minds want to know.

Renge I think usually refers to stones with those red dot looking things theres a killer pic of a renge stone here: http://www.knifeforums.com/uploads/1...1-stones-1.jpg
Supposedly they help cut faster but seriously I don't know if it is the hone in particular or what but the edges off this hone are retarded.
