    Default My new Escher hone!

Well, I paid a ton of money on for this on Ebay last week, I think it was well worth it for future investment. It is a dark blue according to the label on the side of the stone. Does anyone know where "Dark blue" would fit on the Escher scale? We really need your Escher chart to be finished, Jimmy!

Anyway, here are some pictures to inspire worldwide jealously and HAD (I don't have a program to resize images right now, apologies for the sizes!)

    Default Escher Hone

I am new here but thats a great looking stone
if there are ledgible markings on the box you might be able to call norton's cust. service and get a close idea of its grit if it does not say but some of the older stone makers used a letter scale yet I really have no idea if this applies to a barber's hone I saw this a lot on industrial rocks but ether way its a really nice piece congrats

That stone is a "natural" and it is hard to put a grit rating on it the way you can with a synthetic. Escher's stones were mined in the Thuringen region of Germany before the turn of the 20th century and shortly thereafter. Real good for finish honing razors.

If Pike's Escher prices are anything to go by here is an Escher comparing scale: http://straightrazorpalace.com/hones...tml#post580949
