    Default King 1k/6k from amazon/woodcraft

Not sure if this is really a King hone. $33 from woodcraft/amazon. It only says "other products by King" and nowhere else on this page. Is this by King and would you recommend it for honing? I've kept my SRAD in check and am satisfied with 3 razors. Only a W&B from e-bay needs honing, and I don't foresee a lot of honing in the future, so I'm looking to go really cheap. I already have a Vienna Swaty.

That looks like the King I have sitting next to me. The ones I have seem to work well though I am still learning so YMMV.

The dark brown looks like my King 1k, and the style of the divider looks familiar too.

I've had both the 1k and 6k singlaly as well as the one shown, sure looks like all the above. They are slow cutters but work very well for the $$...

+1.. I used to have this combo 1k/6k stone. The 1k side was too slow to cut bevels, IMO.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll give it a try and will only purchase naniwa stones if it doesn't work out. Spending $135 for 3 nani's (1k, 3 or 5k, 8k) to hone an $80 ebay W&B doesn't seem right. I plan on buying just 1 or 2 more razors, new, if at all. If I buy the nani's right off I'm sure I'll be trawling ebay a lot more, to justify the cost. That can be fun though…

I've tried 1000 grit sandpaper, a spyderco triangle sharpmaker (med 4k? and fine 8k? but only 1/2 inch wide) and my Swaty. I can get a BBS shave but takes a lot more strokes than my other shave ready razors.
