Default At Long Last - DALMORE BLUE

I've wanted a Dalmore Blue for quite some time. I don't know why - other than that they are beautiful beyond belief. The last time one went up for sale on the classifieds, I was maybe a minute too late. Not this time.

I just bought one off Jimmy(apparently not as much)HAD(since he's selling hones) and I cannot wait for her to arrive.

Pics and a writeup will follow.

The Dalmore Blue is definitely one of the most beautiful stones. Save effort trying to acquire a Dalmore Yellow. IMO they're close to worthless for razor honing. A coarse amalgamated gritty sandstone.

I'll be interested to hear your opinion of the DB's performance. I'll save my opinion unless you want it sooner.

Here is an archived thread with some eye candy for you. Including a photo of the Dalmore that is on it's way to Dylan.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Saturday, I think it was; I got a PM from Jimmy saying the hone went in the mail and he'd included "a bag" of tobacco. Today the hone arrived with a 500 gram bag of Gawith Hoggarth. And here I was thinking I'd get a little ziplock sample or something. I'm off to smoke a pipe and play with my new stone. Pics tonight.

Once again, Jimmy - You da man!

All I want to know Dylan is if you licked your Dalmore blue yet

I have not licked the Dalmore Blue. I have been playing with her a bit, though. Need to do more before I can post anything about her.

What I can say is that the peat smell is powerful - this hone has a stronger scent than any other I've ever used before.

I am enjoying the tobacoo too. Jimmy informed me that Pensioner's Mix is a blend of the scraps from other stuff they mixed. They must make a lot of English blends, because this stuff has a high latakia content. It's definitely on the stronger side of the Englishes I've had before, but I love it.
