    Default My fun hone project

I was in the garage and found a few materials lying around. So...I put some together.

It is a piece of marble? Something used for the ?threshold?...place between tile and carpet in a house. I had a small piece cut. I glued a piece of leather to the back side. I felt the finished and contoured side would be more comfortable if you wanted to hold it. Plus didn't have to worry about the rounded ends for gluing. I then pasted her with CrOx. I haven't tried it out yet. I may never use it. I don't have a clue what I'll do with it. I have a few feet of this marble slab stuff lying around.

It might make a good balsa hone base?

I'm sure it would. I used leather. I'm not a fan of balsa, just don't like the feel of it. I'm not sure if it produces better results than say pasted leather or not, just my personal preference haven't cared for the feel.

    7/14/09......Flatbed Strop Base idea.....
I spent Sunday afternoon shopping for 3" wide tile to make leather and hard felt flatbed strops ( like I don't already have more than I need ).

    While I was there, I found a 4" X 36 " X 1/2 " thick bathroom threshhold.
I cut this into 9" long pieces and now have 4 flatbed strop bases that are heavier than my tile bases and will not slide around uncontrollably.

This threshhold only cost me $8.50. Divide that by 4. Very reasonable for flatbed bases.

This is a good idea for those of us who appreciate the value of flatbed strops.... JERRY QUOTE>>>
