Default Is this a coarse stone?

    Hi,
Is this a coarse stone? There is some (discoloration?) so I doubt if it is a water hone. Thanks.

No idea, are these holes? if yes it's probably coarse, if not is probably not. The only way to know is test it.
Also 'coarse' is quite relative. A 4000 grit norton is not coarse for setting bevel, but it's coarse for finishing the edge before shaving.

It looks coarse to me but it can be hard to tell from pics.

With unknown hones I like to take a pocket knife to them. I have plenty and it is pretty easy to tell in short order IME. You cannot really tell by eye or touch in many cases but a bit of steel will tell the tale.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
