lapping barber hones?
i have a dmt325 i use to lap my nani ss stones, will this 325dmt lap a barber hone? Question #2 a friend gave me another hone today and it is made by SRD (dreosher), it is 1 by 5 or so and it says Extra Extra fine and its yellow and glued to it is a BBW i think,so it is a combo stone, just wanted if to know if you think the yellow stone is a coti and can it be lapped with the 325dmt,thanks

if you have carborundum barber hone will give you a little hard time to lap on dmt 325. rest you should be ok. remember lap it constantly running water.
Second question you said is srd droescher barber hone is a coticule.?
i don't think so srd droescher is a synthetic hone not natural.
there is droescher hone which is black color and it has only 1 color will act same as escher.
hope this helps.

I have lapped a bunch of barber hones on my DMT 325 without a problem, but I have also seed the same DMT's get stripped from lapping barber hones. Be sure to lap under running water, and be sure to use a very light touch - just the weight of one hone on the other. I also rinse both the DMT and the barber hone rather frequently, because slurry will tend to build up between the hones, even while lapping under running water.
The other hone you describe sure sounds like a coti/bbw cobmo - maybe it's something we've never heard of before or not original to that box?

IIRC I've seen SR Droescher distributed coticules. Seems to me that I did anyhow. They were a big time barber supplier and probably carried a bit of everything at one time or another.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
