    Default Yet Another Mystery Hone

I bought this today at an antique store, it was labeled "knife sharpening stone - $3.95"
I is pretty hard and seems like a natural stone, it's 8.375 x 2.125 inches. My guess would be Arkansas, if it's no good for razors it will still be good for knives. It might not show in the pictures but it's yellow/tan in color with reddish spots

    An update

It's pretty coarse and very fast, I got a kitchen knife up to shaving arm hairs in about ten mins

I'd like to see a picture after you've lapped it, one shot dry and one shot wet. Other than it being fast it looks like it could be a soft arkansas. If it is a genuine ouashita it might cut like you describe. What is the scratch pattern like?

That was after a quick lapping, I'll try to take some better pictures, my camera isn't all it should be.
