    Default Quick BH question

    Hi All,

Just a quick question about barbers' hones. People say they are in the 8 to 10k range which is similar to coticules. My question is does the actual hone surface of a barbers hone feel the same to the finger as that of a coticule, or is there a difference?

    Cheers,

    Rob

Being different materials, they will feel different. One natural and one man made, again feels different.

What are you looking for in the feel test? Nail drag, abbrassion, hardness... So many things to feel for...

Ok those of you with HAD... MINDS OUT OF THE GUTTER!!! (ya that includes me...)

DC, thanks for the reply. I guess I'm asking if they feel as smooth and fine as coticules. Personally, I only have (and have ever had) a coticule combo so I was just curious.

IME they feel very smooth. Than again, unless it is very coarse, I could never tell a hones properties by feeling with my fingertip. It takes steel for me.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I would guess the grit rating of BH is something of a non-issue as they really do not break down as water hone does.
