Diamond seems to be very subjective (as is everything else in this sport); you either love it or you don't.

once you hone the razor well on coticule they are smooth and take some beating. I would say i have had some magical edge of coticule that have been hard to match on other hones. even the same razor on the same coticule. basil are you honing on the coticule from start to finish . or using it as a finishing hone after other hones? i

When I first got the coticule I just used it as a finisher after using a 6000 grit stone.

Now I've been using just the coti from start to finish. Starting with a very thick slurry and slowly working from there

i sure did, i use coticule for most of the honing except may be i will use 1k naniwa or dmt1200 then coticule followed by paste if i'm not happy with sharpness. its realy that simple and it works

Honing and the associated results is one of the most subjective areas in the sport.

HNSB says "magical fairy dust". Lynn says honing is part of a "sport"! My wife thinks I'm just trying to find testosterone lost in the great Emasculation of 2008. It's no wonder I'm so old and confused.

I'm still going to get me a coticule sometime, though.
