Thanked: 46Funny clown coticule.
So I just got this stone, bad thing is it broke probably in transit but the cool thing is that it gave me a good glimpse of some of its secrets which I find absolutely darling lol. It has some sploshes of dark stuff around the whole stone, as seen in the pics the darkness seems to be ink splattered all around. The edge off the hone was incredible, it didn't feel as sharp as my renge but shaved like crazy, whats even more interesting is that I used a razor which I think is softer steel compared to my puma and an ern c&s that seem really hard and hold the edge off the renge stone I have pretty good, however this other ern I have couldn't hold a candle stick to the renge and lost its edge half way through the shave.
Using the coticule though the softer blade did an awesome job BBS and something cool I have always experienced with coticules is that somehow I get less irritation than with other hones.
Here are the pics->

I have a couple of hones with deposits such as that. Here is the Salamander vintage coticule with the same stuff. I've been told it is manganese and that in general a hone with that stuff will be a good cutter. Nice piece you've got there.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 46Delicious, just wish my coticule was as thick as that gecko but I am happy I found it.
BTW, why are people so worried about the title? I happen to think this coticule is funny looking and a clown is funny hence funny clown coticule. Sure as hell beats "new coticule" as a new thread title.

Oh no.
I pop in here for my hone pron fix and now somehow have that associated with ink blot tests from looking for a clown in the manganese deposits in coticles. Let me know if I am wrong, but I thought all of those ink blot tests were of people having sex, no? I best watch out for those guys with the white coat with really long sleeves... hehehohohaha
Memorael, nice looking coticule you acquired. Cheers
