When I finish lapping/refreshing a hone I always go to a 1000 grit finish.
That gives me a nice consistent starting texture on the hones and gives me a another good marker for when the hones need refreshing.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin
