Hi, this is my frist post here. I picked these up today at a flea market and lapped one side of them, just wondering if anyone happened to be able to identify them. Left is 7"L x 1 5/8"W x 5/8" Thick Right is 5.25"L x 1.25"W and 1/2" Thick

Can't help with them, but if you were to give us the dimensions, & maybe a photo showing the slurry, it may make it easier.

IMO the bigger one looks like a Thuringian and I have no idea about the smaller one. Then again, there are others who are far better at "name that hone" than I am.

The right one looks like it could be a Coticule without backing, left looks like it could be a Thuringian or maybe a BBW because in the last picture it looks like it has a pattern. Some close-ups should make it easier to identify.

Thanked: 1Thank you for all the replies. Here are some slurry pics and close ups of the one on the left. Also added the size of both in the 1st post. The lines or grainy look is from lapping with my DMT XXC I will try to get some pics after lapping with sandpaper.

Perhaps Thuringian but I lean more towards slate for the left, Coticules have white slurry so I think that's what the other one is.
Good find

I would opt for Thuringian on the left. The other natural one on the right I have a few suspicions, but could not say for certain.
I'll wait for Jimmy, Sham and A_S

Left does look like Thuringian, but as mentioned, maybe slate of some sort.
On the right, no idea, but I think I'd rule out Coticule.

I don't know what that oblong rock is, but it sure looks like one of my mystery stones.
