    A Chinese 12k or the spyderco ultra fine?

    The Chinese hone is the apple.
    The Spyderco is the orange.

    The Chinese hones can vary, as they are natural stones. The Spyderco is made with 2K grit but the way it is ground confers a much more fine surface.

    The "fineness" of the hone is not the end all be all of the hone though.

    Have you noticed I'm stalling here?

    I don't know which is truly more fine but I certainly like the edge off of a Chinese hone better than Spyderco.

    I have both of them. Personally, the edge from the Ch12k suits me much better. So much better that I purchased a 2nd Ch12K as a backup!
