    yes it is big jump. Try avoid that much jump.
    General rule(there is none just we made) if you double jump grits you should be fine. example
    1,4,8,16 etc.

    Yes it is. I like the naniwa 1k or there is the norton 220/1k and that along with the 4/8 is all you really need. You can lap them on a flat surface with 325 grit wet & dry paper or you can get a DMT 325 D8C continuous plate. If you do go for the Chinese 12k get the 2" wide version. I believe it is ten bucks cheaper.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    yeah thats too much. when i first started I was only lookinjg to buy razors so I opted to buy them. they are good quality stones and the shipping time from poland was pretty good. however as stated the chinese will definatly need slurry. they are a great value on a budget. also check these out. the nortons you wanted in a kit, and good price. best starter kit in my opinion.

    you will still need a finishing stone though. hope this helps.
