I have used two small boxed Thuringians and one small boxed "dark blue" Escher, and the edges they give are indistinguishable in my estimation. The biggest factor for me is the size and shape of the hone, which takes some adjustment if you are used to a hone that is the width or nearly the width of the razor blade. For some razors, like those with a slight smile or curve, I like the thinner hones better because they require a steady, even X stroke that seems to work better with these blades. I can't say that I feel any difference between the Thuringians and the Escher that I have used, at least when it comes to the finished razor edge.

There is different small boxed thuringian out there.
you will need to pay attention very close to find out .
one of them will say for finest tools(never mention razor name),next one will mention razor hone.
Now there is a differences among them.
Escher, thuringian mention for razors, for finest tool one.
There is Another small box thuringian out there but they do have escher logo in the middle this one will be very very close to dark blue escher .
What Jimmy mention small box stone (intersting name has) is same as escher Jimmy is right about it.
    hope this helps.

I've had several of both and statistically they're the same. Any difference in how a particular hone finishes has no correlation to the presence of an escher label.

Seems to me the more they cost the better they seem to hone.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

i brought the one in classified. reason being i have a couple of razors that a couple of warps and i thought this size would work a treat , i will use it to keep the razor refreshed. i read that the turys cut slightly quiker than coticule when used with water? this one has a light blue label in it. the hone is a fair price as i have seen these on cetain vendors website for double the price i paid.

I have a dark blue Escher, and one of those boxed Thuri's. I think the little Thuri gives a better edge. Go figure.

I have a new Thurry I just got that is dark blue, almost black except when you see the run off in the sink when I lapped it. I am assuming both of
them come in this color but if you have no labels to tell you is there any way you can tell the difference between an Escher and a Thurry?
    Does the size matter?
