    Default Lapping a dry stone

I recently inherited a Pike Krystolo and was wondering how to lap it, due to it being a dry stone (at least according to the instructions in the box)

    Thanks

I'm guessing the dry is how they recommend using it. You should still lap it under running water a la Lapping 101 in the wiki.

    +1 under running water.
The water is for your DMT not for the hone you are lapping.
Once it is flat, rinse clean and let it air dry....

BUT lap lightly, most barber hones if they need anything
only need to be scrubbed with a green Scotch Brite. In
some cases the reason for using a hone dry is to let it fill
up with swarf and stuff to calm it down.

It can pay to "audition" your hone and with the aid
of black magic marker see if your razor and hone hook
    up well.

I never lap barber hones unless there is a nick that needs the edges rounded, they work great even without lapping.

I tend to agree but..... it needs to be determined if the sides of the hone are "high". The way to do this is with a very light lapping on some fine grit sandpaper, 500-1000 grit will do fine. If the wear only shows on the sides/edges then flip the hone over and repeat the process to see if the other side is any better. From there you can decide what needs to be lapped, if any.
