Some coticules are superb finishers, others not so much. My Deep Rock coticule is in the second category. I don't know how similar DR cotis are. If yours isn't satisfactory as a finisher, don't give up on all cotis for that purpose.

To my face, I can never tell a difference between the stone used at or after 8k if I use paste.
