Thanked: 202If you want CF or at least to know more about them come to London. There should be quite a few of them to see and try (obviously bring something with you to try on them). Perhaps you can talk to guys there and offer sometning for exchange for one of them.
Yes I have been in the Whittle Hill as well as other quarries in the area.
Yes you can use CF with slurry to speed it up but progression of fineness is slurry (fast and good edge)- water (slow but smooth)- oil (very slooow but very smooth). Also depends which CF you have.
For those who think that UK is full of CFs NO if you looking for one you have to kiss many ugly frogs (hope that piece of expensive black oily lump will not be another Snake stone or other hard stone) before there is one princess i n a shape of pretty CF. They often come in bad shape and trust me to lap off even 1/16 of dishing from the CF takes me more than an hour of hard graft and I do have a decent set-up for flattening stones and then you have to lap it with finer grit.

Thanked: 480Can somebody send me info on the London meet? I am working my arse (heh, can you hear my crappy attempt at an accent?) off, and will need a vacation soon.
Perhaps a holiday in the UK is in order?
