open razor hones
H guys,
I've bought a set of hones on ebay from a guy named open_razor(from poland) and want to know if somebody ever bought is hones that he sells for cheap.
I bought a set of 3 -1x5000grit white ceramic wetstones, -1x8000grits white ceramic wetstone and -12000grits chinese water stone. If somebody tried it, is it good??
Is the ceramic wetstones good for honing?
Thanks
Dom

I got those hones. I bought them before I found this place, and before I knew anything at all. In fact, I remember that I had just previously bought a Lansky sharpening system that I thought was going to be my weapons of choice
Luckily I discovered the lansky would not work for straight razors, so I bought these.
They are still part of my progression and I get nice shaves off them. He is correct, they do cut fast. I am by no measure an expert, I have not tried lots of hones, but I do find they work for me. I use them both with a slurry and without. And the price certainly is comfortable.

I got Chinese "12K" from him. Compared to other J-nat's stones I have, that one is dirt cheap

I got exactly the same stones as you did, the ceramic 5k and 8k, and the chinese 12k. I did not get a slurry stone for my 12k, I do find it benefits greatly from it.
I was not aware of the review, thanks for posting that janivar!
