    Default Canadian Hone any info

    I have recently acquired few hones ant this one was one of them. Do you have any info about or experience with it? Thank you

    I have no experience of it, but from what I could find on the web it sounds very interesting!

    This source says:
    There are several kinds of oilstone employed for setting edged tools; the best and the greatest favourite with our carpenters is the Charnley forest stone, which is found in Leicestershire. The Canada oilstone is also a good stone, and costs somewhat less than the Charnley stone.

    and this one:
    Canada Oilstone.-A very fine porous sandstone of a greyish white colour, which has been recently introduced. Being nuch less compact than any of the preceding stones, it is much more rapidly worn away. Its first cost is, however, rather less than that of Charnley Forest. (dated between 1827 and 1890).

    This could be a magog oilstone from lake memphemagog a quarry on an island on this lake.
    From what i found it is somewhat compared to a charnley , what is your experienced with this stone?

    It does not look simmilar to stone on Neil's site. However it does fit to his description.
