Waterstones
Thirty years ago I bought three waterstones to sharpen chisels. I can't remember their grit and all of them are probably too coarse for use with razors. The softest one is the color of common brick, the next is gray and the hardest is nearly white. Is there anyway for a novice like me to determine the approximate grit of these stones?
About the same time I bought a vintage perforated hone for fifty cents. It was a great find. Any guesses on the the grit?

Are they natural or man made stones?

if i am not mistaken it is man made barber hone.
The idea was they hone without making bars .
Grit is approximately 6-7k level(in reality barber hones doesn't have grits.)
hope this helps.
