Default Which Naniwa SS for sharpening?

    3K or 5K? (Isn't it hard when there's no 4K...)

Either will work fine in your progression from a 1K to set the bevel to the 8K and then on to your finishing stone and media if you use any.

    The choice is yours...............

    Have fun,

Is there any particular value in going including both the 3K and 5K? I currently use 1-3-8-12. Would including the 5 make any substantial difference or improvement?

    offshoot,

Like Lawson, I also use the 1-3-8-12 sequence of Naniwas, which I find suits me the best.

I have also tried the 1-5-10/1-5-12 sequence, but preferred the above

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

I've got the 1/3/8/12k set of Naniwas and they give just as good an edge as the 1/4/8/16k Shaptons IMO.

I dont know if having the 5k would make any difference, other than you'd be spending less time on the 3k and more on the 5k.
