We Escher users don't use slurry. We create slime with a rubber. (according to the label)

Edit; You're right ! The label does say lather, I don't recall where I read slime instead but I know that I've seen that term used. Maybe on another label.

More on lather...... In the 1980s barbers I knew called the coticule a 'soap stone.' They would use the thin lather from their "Lather King" machines as a vehicle for honing. I've done the same back then but haven't had a machine to do it with since then. The other day I lathered up a puck and brushed it onto one of my better cutting coticules. The lather was so slick that it was like honing on ice. I need to bring a coti to a barber friend and try the lather from his dispenser and see if it is different.

As an aside, speaking with a friend who is a scientist specializing in the field of polymers .... he is also a hone collector. He said that lather applied to a coticule would have a chemical effect that would be similar, if not the same, as slurry. This postulate is above my head but I'm throwing it out there for anyone who might have some knowledge relative to the topic.

Jimmy, The celebrated Razor hone from Germany refers to slime on some of it's labels.

    On an unrelated note,

I tried to print the little booklet and it wants me to pay for it. Anyplace to get it with out that annoyance?

Just close the box that is asking for money, the book will come up, atleast it did for me, although it did keep freezing up. It took me a few tries to get through the whole thing.

Those questions are all answered further back in this thread at least by page 3 I believe. Sham also answered those questions on Belgian Coticule of which your a member so if you check over there there is a recent thread with the same info.

I couldn't help notice that sperm is recommended on page 15 as a substitute for slurry. My girlfriend already believes that I spend too much time with my hones, so I hesitate to guess what her reaction might be to trying this method. Any advice?
