The main problem with sandpaper and Norton's is the 4k side. It occurs when you can see some " pock marks", tiny holes, in the surface of the 4K. Those have to be lapped out first or else the sandpaper grit gets embedded into them. Check you hone carefully under a bright light before you begin using sandpaper for the first time.

Default I think I completed my first shave ready razor today!

I had a joseph rodgers blade that was in pretty good condition. I hand sanded the bladed and polished it up...

Then I used the pyramid method with the 1k, 4k, 8k, and finally finished with a barbers hone.

It shaved the fine hair inside of my elbow so I think it's ready to go...I'm going to try it out tomorrow. Seems ready to go...I'll find out!

Sent to your email...every pic I take always has lots of glare or it's blurry. I'll play with the lighting.

I was actually thinking the same thing. I know Glen advocates using slurry on the Nortons in the lower grit range...

Like Glen, I started using slurry on my norton a few months or a year ago to help speed up a process and then dilute to water, I haven't found any problems with it which lead to my question, maybe edge endurance?
