Is this good?
So I'v been shaving with a straight razor for a little over a year now. I own two profecionally honed razors which I shave with and an antique shop razor that is sharp enough but not "shave ready."
I would really love to get a nice set of hones that would allow me to get a razor from an antique shop, and hone it to where its shave ready. Although I don't have the money to purchase them now. Or a close antique shop to get razors at I'd like to know what I can get when the time comes. So I'm thinking about this Norton hone set. Is it good for beginners?
Water Stone Kit
P.S I have a barbers hone for the final touch. Instead of spending alot of money for a "finishing touch"

I'm in the same boat. I bought that same set two days ago along with some chromium oxide (gonna try to make my own pasted strop to use after I use the 8k).
I was going to buy it from SRD but it is no longer available for some reason. Not on the site at all. I bought the set from Sharpening Supplies.com for 135 and FREE SHIPPING and NO TAX!!!!!
It seems to be an ideal set for beginners so I am going to start out with a few older razors I picked up for cheap. That way if I booger the edge up....NO BIGGY!

The norton 4/8k is an awesome work stone, I love it. Don't forget to try to shave off the 8k, should be a shave ready edge by that level.
