Combination Stone
Gentlemen,
Got this stone from a DIY store for $4.00.Problem is there is no grit figures indicated on the box,can anybody tell me what is the grit figures like.I need to hone my blades and this is the only stone i have.

I hate to say it, but my gut says that a $4 stone from a hardware store is probably not something you want to use for a razor. Good luck though!

it's hard to assign a grit to those. Normally, One side is coarse, the other is fine.
It would not be good for touching up a razor. maybe some repair work....
P.S. Or like you mentioned, Kitchen knives. Recently, I came across an old Wapi, It had a huge chip in it. I used my Arkansas tri hone system. It made quick work of the chip, Of course, bevel setting was a bitch....Last edited by zib; 02-13-2011 at 03:03 PM.

that stone is used for setting the bevel on knives the grit on that silicon carbide is around 220
