    Another tip that I picked up from a j-nat website is to avoid touching the honing surface with your fingers. The same oils we lube our strops with when we palm rub them will be absorbed by the stone. I handle them by the edges.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Depends on the stone I am using;

    If I am using Naniwas or Nortons I rinse the stone when I am done and dry them off with a towel. If I am using a coticule with slurry I like to save the slurry on the stone for next time.

    If I am using my Y/g Escher (always with slurry), I then keep the slurry on the stone for next time too because I am not wasting that gold.
