    Default Barbers hone- Carborundum 102 versus 106

    Hi. I read in a posting here that the #106 is "softer" than the #102. Any thoughts on the relative refreshing abilities of these two hones? Or, any specific tips for use?

    Both are used in the same way and are equally capable of refreshing a previously sharp blade. For either one, 4 to 6 strokes are your starting point.
