The Pike you mentioned earlier is a good brand, check it out for cosmetic and structural flaws and you should be OK.

Thanked: 52I just got a barbers home from Glen (gssixgun)a couple of weeks ago. I'm a noob and I wanted one for the same reason. I've used it a couple of times and it is great. The one I got was already lapped and was pretty inexpensive--he gets new ones in from time to time and he's also very helpful around here. You might want to check him out--he's in the Members Services section of the classified.

Gotta agree with most everything Slur has said in this thread. The Chinese Natural Polishing Stone from Woodcraft.Com is awesome and inexpensive. It builds a good slurry without much work, cuts glacially slow and leaves a fine, FINE edge when it's done. I went with the cheaper option (the $20 8x2x1) and I seriously doubt I will wear it out in my lifetime. My greatgrandkids will probably still be using it...

I came here today to post virtually the same thing. I just want to put an already very sharp edge back to what it was when I bought the razor. I'm in the UK and I'm having trouble finding a barber hone.
This is all I can find on Ebay
But taking the P&P in to account I could buy A small Belgian Blue Waterstone for £18
