Hone ID w/Pics
I picked up this hone off of e-bay. It was super cheap and I low balled it. I was surprised (and a little worried) when I won it. Still, it looks like a nice hone, lapped evenly. I used it some this weekend as I found myself with a great deal of time on my hands, but the thing is, forgive the pun, as hard as stone. It's very smooth, and though I know it had an effect on the blade I was honing, it seemed to do very little with each round of 30-50 circles.
I was wondering if any of you guys were familiar with these hones and could tell me a little about them. Thanks!
Brainchild that I am, I didn't think to measure it and don't have it handy, but the razor box in the pic should provide some idea of scale. Also, the backside pic makes it look uneven with flecks and fissures, but it's smooth to the eye and to the touch no matter how you slice it.

Thanked: 3795I have quite a few barber hones, but I've never seen that one before. I've seen a few others with specks like that, and though they just look wrong, most of them work just fine.

Thanks in advance.

I am not familiar with the brand but it is a barber hone, 4-6 laps when the blade needs a touch up. 30 -50 circles would be overkill, but it shouldnt hurt the edge.... too much. Nothing a good stropping shouldnt correct anyway.

It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain
