Thanked: 2027Help with Hone I.D
I picked this up on a little RR trip to Japan in the late 60s,is inleted to a rosewood box,I have learned is used for keeping Kamisori, sort of a honing station so to speak, stone is glass hard and actually puts a very nice edge on blades, creates no slurry at all, anyone have any Idea as to what it may be,Thx in advance.

If I didn't know it was from Japan I'd say it could be a Soft or Hard Arkansas. I don't know anything about Japanese Stones, so for me not having seen a JNat like this doesn't mean anything.

If it works nice, that's all that matters. I sure can't tell you anything about it (except that rosewood is not a native Japanese wood, and it's pretty odd to see it used on a "traditional" Japanese object like a kamisori box.
They have, I've seen them. Some people quite like them. Some don't.
