Default What kind of Hone Stone is this?

I just purchase a stone online and it is in excellent shape and I don't think it was ever used. In an antique box and I was told from the owner it was from the 40's ruffly. I am just wondering if anyone has any info or could direct me in the way of what brand it is? The dimension are 6"L x 2"W x 1"Thick. Just wondering what it may be. Thanks
It seemed to hone beautifully considering this was my first time honing. Made my razor very shavable.

It's hard to tell as there are plenty of slate colored stones, but if it hones well it's a good and useful one.

As far as being used, I don't think it's possible to tell if a stone was used before or not, they're just cut and lapped slabs of rock, so it's just as easy to relap them. In almost all cases it makes no difference to function though.

How does it develop slurry and how does that look like, if you've tried it?

Also what kind of honing it does? Is it for medium level work, or for polishing?

Default Sorry I am new at this....

What is slurry and I am not sure about the medium or polish? How ever I would venture to say it was medium to fine, but not polished. How ever it took me while to hone my razor down, it was quite dull.

    TDIDTim,
Stick around SRP for a bit. Do a search and begin the best place to learn all you will ever need to know about razors and stones. Do a slurry search and your head will spin. For now it is just bringing up some of the hone or another stone that imparts loose abrasive to expediate honing. Have fun as the "Great One" tells everyone around here.
