    Default Hone ID

I picked this up on the bay for next to nothing. I Quickly tried lapping the stone with a DMT 325 and it barely made a dent. The center has a slight dip (thus the discoloration that I attempted to lap). Lapping made a whitish slurry with an almost "dirt" smell. The surface feels like velvet and MUCH smoother than a Norton 8k. Measurements are 6X2X1. The color is almost an Olive Drab color. Do you gents think I have anything worthwhile? Thanks for the help.

Could be a charnley forest? They're very hard and the slurry smells like earth.

it also has a slight green colour in the pics?

Have you cleaned the hone? Some times these can be so hard to get all swarf out. From the shape it does not look like usual CF more like arkie. What is the size?

Have you put a razor to it? I know it feels smooth, but does it act like a finisher?
It looks like some stones I have that are in the lower end of the grit range.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
