    Default Perserving Escher label.

I received an Escher today with it's label in very good condition. I have another one that I got the labels wet and they peeled off. No big deal...I love that hone. This one I would like to keep as is. Packaging tape would fit perfectly, but not sure if I've seen tape recommended. Anyone use tape? I wouldn't want the tape to come off and take pieces of the label with it.

I've read that some sort of clean coat works well.

There a a few interesting threads about preserving Escher labels.

I'm still trying to find the best way of cleaning labels before applying preservatives.

Hi G-Man, yes I have used tape or rather 3mil pressure sensitive Mylar to protect labels. Not all packaging tape is created equal. Solvents (acetone) would have dissolved this particular label. Watch out for air bubbles when applying.

AFAIC it depends on the label. Some of them soak off easily. If they do I soak, carefully remove the label, and store it in the box, if there is one, or in an envelope. For the tough type that won't peel, come hell or high water, I spray them with a document preservative called "Preserve It." So far so good.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
