    KEES if you can take a close up pics or make the stone wet and took pics may help more. hard to say from side view.

    Stone is same color doesn't have any layers.will have saw marks side of the hone.
    Only sparkles(kinda )when it wet. don't have better word .

    I highly recommend NOT trying a slurry. I borrowed one from Sham to learn another stone and tried a slurry. This stone is so hard that the slurry doesn't break down like a coti or thuri & it WILL "slurry dull" your razor. Use a light oil like sewing machine oil on it as a final finisher. That is a very, very nice stone. Few razors will be able to handle the final edge that they can produce, similar to a Shapton 30K or the higher end Japanese finishers. I only recommend the harder steel razors on it.

    Very nice stone, most definitely a keeper as they are very rare.

    Do not use slurry on this stone....use a light oil like sewing machine oil.
