Certainly, and a Yellow-Green one, which many consider to be the best.

Could be, there's no label on the stone, and no guarantee it belongs to the leftover of the Escher box, but it's likely.
Certainly cannot be honestly labeled as 'Escher' anymore, but if you mostly care about function as long as it works well, all is good.Last edited by gugi; 06-18-2011 at 08:15 PM.

Thanked: 1936It's a yellow/green thuringian almost 100% & an escher box. More than likely it's a Escher brand thuringian like you are considering...and yes, in my watch list...but I won't be bidding. I've got a another thuringian on the way I won the other day.

Please feel free to call it an Escher. It's the right color, size, type of stone, and it comes with an Escher box. The chance that it's not an Escher is very slight. There is no such thing as absolute proof. (Even with an Escher label on the stone.) The best we can hope for is reasonable doubt, and I see no reason to doubt its authenticity. Congratulations on your new Escher!

If that's the case, do I have an Escher for you! It's also in far better condition than this one. You can also have it in either 2.5"x6" or 2.5"x(5"+1")... Until you make the choice you can only admire the box though, because either one will be 'genuine'
There are labels on these hones for a reason, and while it's possible to forge those too, when you see a couple real ones you'll realize it's probably not worth anybody's time to make a really convincing copy. Even at the prices they go for.

I agree, which is why I believe it's the correct box. It's not worth the time to find an old Escher box for a non-Escher stone. If it were a wooden box, I might think it was purchased separately to protect the stone. But no sane person would buy a trashed cardboard box for protection. It just doesn't make sense. Yes, it's possible that it's not an Escher stone, but the evidence says it is.
