Thanked: 6I have since added a "Dragon" welsh slate to the sequence going from 1k to the slate with a little pressure to start with. Then watering it down. I'm not skillful enough to shave off it yet. I find i am having to go back and make fine adjustments with the 1k after testing the edge off the slate. Then finally when its even it only takes a few passes on the loaded strop. I did this to set and hone my Spikey Razor, which is fairly hard in comparison to my sheffield razor and the gong. It surprised me how quick the slurry on the slate smoothed the edge. But I think I will add a King 4K and a chinese 12 to the party. All in all a fairly inexpensive combo. I hope to become skillful enough to shave off the 1K 4k then slate first though. It took all my concentration to hone Spikey and a couple of trys to get it right.. but I got there in the end.
As I say if anyone wants Starkie blue compound drop us a pm and I'll try nd pick up a box of the stuff for people to try.
Thanks
Will
