I have been trying to learn it for sometime. Anyone have pointers on using the hone? I had it at the Colorado meet up and let gssixgun have a look at it. Hopefully he will chime in.
Sham, A.K.A. hi_bud_gl, told me that he has seen and used them in gray and in brown IIRC. Both suitable for finishing an already sharp razor. Sort of in the same vein ... no pun intended ... as an Escher.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Sham has told me on several occasions that they can be even better than an escher, one of these days when I am over at his house one will slip into my pocket for further experimentation.

here is a link to the original thread form when I got the La Lune double face. I am still working with it and have contacted sham to maybe send it to him to help me understand the hone. I have not got it sent for his testing.

La Lune/the moon pictogram/FGBC are trademarks rather than a hone variety. Likewise, the designation 'Special Stone' was used on at least two distinct hone types. The one in that last link does not seem the same as the one in the OP.

I used Sham's Special Stone for about a month or so to learn another stone. It does not work with slurry like thuringian/Escher as it's a much harder stone and will destroy the edge. Works ok on water, but comes alive with a light oil like sewing machine oil. With higher hardness steel razors, this stone can leave a super sharp edge...too sharp for a newer person to straight shaving as you MUST use very light stroke. The sharpness of the edge reminded me of a 30K edge, but in a natural...which is much less apt to overhone as natural stone finishers will agree. 20-30 light x strokes after a progression to 16k will leave a spooky edge with this stone. It is one that I would love to own myself, but I had to send it back home.

Thank you for clarifying Artan, we have still not determined what FGBC stands for. I have since come across a few more of these “Special Stones” most are un-marked other than an ink stamp on the side indicating “Very Fine” or for the big one pictured below “Extra Fine”.
These are used with light weight oil. Very light pressure is required. Only 7 to 12 passes. You can easily destroy the edge with these stones. I have killed edges with 20 passes. It helps to observe the edge at 100X at this final stage so you don’t over hone. I am quite happy with my Y/G Escher edges. For those who have HAD, Happy hunting, these are awesome stones.

I have now bought a Nakayama Kita. I replace the yellow against a La Lune Escher, green, deep blue, black. Sends a PM
