    Default progression of pastes

I have a 0.5 micron CrOX on Balsa and a 0.25 micron diamond on felt. I have read a couple of different ways to use them, but am not sure how. Normally I would go to the 0.5 then the 0.25 followed my linen/felt and leather. I have read a couple of spots where they go from 0.25 diamond then up to 0.5 CrOX. Any clarity?

I am new to honing so my answer might not have much weight, but from what I've read people feel the edges from .25 diamond are sometimes harsh, but from the .50 CrOx are smooth. My guess would be they would go back to the CrOx to smoothing out the harshness of the diamond. This is all just a guess though.

    that would be the reason.
