I lapped a barber hone that gave up a purple slurry. It was a very dark grey stone but smaller than yours.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

It's the grey Special stone that sparkles iirc, I don't know whether that one gives off purple slurry. BBWs can come in pretty thick sizes. I have not seen any big Fox stones (yet).
Here are a BBW, a Fox and a Vosgienne, all three purple.

It looks like a BBW to me, some look different than others, they all leave purple slurry. The "Special stone only for good razors" is a La Lune stone (moon man on the back label) and from what I've heard they sparkle but leave a creamy grey slurry like a Thuringian.

"Silly scientist, you introduced too many variables", I said to myself after I finished a razor that I hadn't shave tested previously. I'm going to take a razor that just gave me a bbs shave yesterday (if it's a bbw, bad idea; if it's a Vosgienne, good idea) and hit this sparkly stone with it for 50-70 laps. I'm hoping I end up with a wonderful edge, but the prospect of it being a goofy grey bbw has me worried it's going to be a cheese grater. I will shave with it tonight and post what the aftermath is.

Thanked: 62It's a Coticule BBW combo, I would bet on it.

Okay, here's the update to the adventure. I took a Wester-Bros razor (the first shave ready razor I ever had by the way) which had given me an incredible shave a day or so previous, and took it to this odd stone. I decided to do about 70 laps with my reasoning being that if it was a finisher, it would actually do something, and if it wasn't a finisher, it would really do something. I shaved with it this morning, and it's not the worst shave I've ever had... but it's not the best either. I am torn with where to proceed next. I'm thinking I take that Wester Bros and try a slurry dilution scheme, see where that gets me. I think it's going to come down to my taking this thing to the next Mid-MO meet and hopefully getting Randy or Sham to take a look at it.
