    Default Nakayama Maruichi Honyama Asagi

I recently bought this hone from Takeshi's site on a gamble.

I usually buy stones from So or Maxim because they know razors and how a razor Jnat stone should act. I decided to crap shoot on this one because of the stamps and what the heck, right? If you remember old_school's now down site, which you can still view here btw: Hone #5, you will see stones with the same stamps.

One of the stamps is the Kamisori stamp for razors.

I lapped the stone flat and then used 1000grit sandpaper to polish the surface as well as nagura stones to polish more. The stone is very hard and slow, I actually tried to make slurry on it using my extremely hard (lv5 according to Maxim) Oozuku Agasi stone. It took forever to build slurry.I tried to use the edge of the Oozuku nagura to make things faster and it then chipped pieces off the Oozuku Nagura without making much slurry (I got a very little bit).

I shaved off three razors this week using the stone as a final polish stone using water, after a 10Kish coticule. I normally use my YG escher for a final stone but this stone may be taking over that spot. I had the closest smoothest shaves this week from this stone, 2 passes, I normally do three. No need for a ATG pass either, XTG slicing was all it took.
