Default Help with identifying this hone

Not long ago, I put my hands on this hone, but having a real difficult time identifying its origin...Charnley...dark Arkansas...Welsh Llyn Idwal...very hard to say

Can anyone help me with this stone?

    Thanks.

I thought so too...certainly as smooth...but can you rule out the dark Ark?

Let me guess. Obtained off eb.. within last few weeks. What else you can say about the hone? Size? Colour of slurry? real colour of the stone? Scratch pattern? How easy to lap?

Well, I got it in an...antique shop...in Ohio...yup...and haven't done much to it to be honnest. The size is 8.5" x 2" and the pictures above do credit to the real color pretty well. Havent lapped it yet either.

I would not buy this off ebay not knowing what it is..unless going for 2 bucks and free shipping

I reckon charnley forest, I've seen them look like that before.

It's good to buy mystery hones sometimes, I snagged a blue grey Escher like that..!

Good score! CF's are good finishers but slow and very hard. I have to do 100 strokes on mine to get the finished edge!

Your stone looks very much like an unlapped version of my Charnley Forest, pictured below:

that size remind's me of a ark but you should lap it both a cf and a ark is very hard to lap. i would like to know what color will the slurry will be ? after looking at it again you'll have to lap it to find the true color if it has oil on the stone use a cleaner on it before you lap it .
