How big is the chip?
Maybe start a new thread about this stone with pics of the chip and the stone in general?

Chip is tiny & fixed--no factor. Stone feels loads nicer now that it's been lapped--shave test awaits.

Good to hear, are you going to seal it to help prevent that from happening again or was it just bad luck?

Bad luck (& impatience) chamfering is all. Stone is an absolute delight to use! Probably won't do lacquer on the sides as it's extremely dense. Max says you can actually leave them submerged (the super hard ones) & it won't do anything. Won't do that, but I don't worry about a few drops of water running down the sides @ all.

Amazing Shave Today!!!
Test shaved w/ my barber's W&B--hard steel that really needs a superfine finish to come alive--mowed through a 2 day beard w/ no pulling on the chin (a perfectly shave-ready edge normally pulls just a tiny bit there w/ lots of beard growth). Pretty much zero resistance everywhere else--I could hear the cutting, but couldn't feel it!
Very close shave going WTG like Gary says--nothing left after a 3 pass shave. Just for fun, I took a Randall Hall (not finished on this stone) & did a sideburn WTG, then relathered & hit it w/ the W&B--beard stubble in the lather!
Wonderful feeling stone (I'm probably still using too much water, but even then, it feels good) that hones as good as it looks--& it is beautiful! (I'll post a pic in a bit). Big thanks to Max @ JNS!
