    Default stone ident

    Hey,

    this is the very first honing stone I got from my grandfather well over 10 years ago, which he himself has had for many years before that
    However i've never quite managed to identify exactly which grit it's got, or what type of stone it is.
    judging by how even it is, i'd imagine it to be a synthetic, but I have absolutely no idea what the grit is :/

    it produces a light gray slurry and has a purple/brown/red-ish mixed colour around the sides.
    it sparkles quite nicely in the light.
    it auto-slurries quite readilly.

    I've tried lapping it before taking the picture, but after completely wearing trough 4 sheets of norton sanding paper, I gave up on that and just took the pics :P
