    Default Great Grandpa's Hone

I recently inherited my great-grandfather's Shumate razor and Lee's hone. I have been unable to find any info regarding this hone, which I assume is just a barber's hone, and would like to know if anyone here is familiar with this brand.

Any info at all would be appreciated. Sorry I only have the one pic.

I am not familiar with this brand, I have heard of it but have never used it. It looks typical to me. I would get some 2000 grit wet and dry sandpaper, get both the stone wet as well as the paper and sand the crud from the backside of the hone. Enjoy it !

I am not familiar with the branding either but it might just be a great hone anyway! Listen, if your great Grandpa used it for shaves for years and years then it must do the job, right? Does the hone feel rough or smooth to the touch, it looks rough in the pictures..

It actually feels very smooth. Smoother than my Norton 8k. I'm putting her across some 2000g wet/dry now. Hopefully this will be the finisher I've been looking for.

Use it every 5-6 shaves or so and it should keep you going for a long time!
