Mystery coffin stone - brown
I am sure it is one of those antique oil stones. Extremely fine, relatively hard, came in typical coffin. But what is it? Color is 99% correct.

very interesting stone. it looks like it was stored in a box, i can see some pine pitch on the stone. as to what kind of stone it is i dont know but your right it does look like and oil stone.

I didn't include picture of coffin here. Nothing much to look at. It is oily and dirty.

I've had 2 hard fine brown stones that looked similar but I never found out what they really were.
