Cheap way to get a good hone ?
All the time on Ebay I see old Rolls Razors for sale meny only fetching a few £ or $. These came in their tin box with both a hone and strop. so if you remove said hone from the lid and attach to a solid piece of wood or other backing and lap how good would these be for a straight ? Come to mention it what about the strop could this be used with diamond spray or paste ?

I know what your talking about, but I would go with a barbers hone on Ebay, some are cheap. Then buy a strip of leather and make your own paddle strop. JMO

The Rolls Razor kits may be cheap but you will most likely have to buy several of them before finding one where the hone isn't broken.

As mentioned a Barber's hone is all you need to keep a razor sharp with stropping. You just make 5 strokes on lather every week-two weeks and you're set for a very long time.
Brands to look for:
Swaty
Dubl Duck
Itsapeech
Norton (watch out this one can cost a lot of money, try to find in antique stores instead of ebay).
Winner hone

Thanked: 202I do have one on a piece of plywood. I did not put it on that was already done when I got it. I is small. What a waste of time. The only exeption would be those which are not synthetics but proper CFs. Yes there was time when they supposed to use CF for Rolls razors.
