Default Steelex Stone holder for Shapton Glass Stones

I am thinking of buying Steelex Stone holder as opposed to the Shapton.
Amazon.com: Steelex D1091 Sharpening Stone Holder: Home Improvement

Does anyone know if it will work on the Shapton stones?

It works great for awhile, about 1500 razors, then you have to start adjusting the Shapton GS's assuming you are talking about them, off the bottom of the holder because the top surface of the stone is below the top of the holder, IME anyway ....

Great thanks, I actually saw this holder on your videos in youtube . But in the shapton video you changed it to the Shapton Holder, so I had the doubt. Anyway 15.95 for 1500 uses sounds good. I'll last me a lifetime, since I only sharpen my razors .

I have two of the Steelex stone holders. I keep my DMT D8c clamped into one and use the other upside down with the hone (Nortons) resting on top of it. I don't clamp the hone into it, it is a rubber non skid surface and I have never had a problem with the hone moving. I don't have Shapton glass stones and the glass surface of the base may slip but with the minimal amount of pressure used in honing razors I would think it would work just fine. As an aside, the Steelex stone holders represent a great value, they are well made and do a great job of elevating the stone off the table. I am thinking about picking up another one for my DMT extra course.
