Yeah it's an ongoing project that will probably never end. You know the thread is about making natural whetstones too like you're looking into. If you ever have any questions feel free to message me. I have learned quite a lot in what to look for when cutting naturals or making synthetics.

Hey 111Nathaniel, can you tell me where you found that stone? I'm a long way from needing to hone a razor but it would be nice to know for when the time comes. I'm also in Newfoundland.

    Hello,

Me fellow Newfie, well i gots that one near South brook, somebody brings slate there to sell as decorative slate. I picked up a piece with a flat edge and tried my swiss army knife on it and it made my pocket knife scary sharp. So after talking with some geologists i know i think it was mined in the area around Twillingate NL. I also know of slate around Snooks Arm, Bette's Cove, Conception bay might but it's developed area, ect. As you know from this thread when the snow melts i'll be on the hunt again for some rocks. Perhaps i could send you a slate hone i can make for you sometime...

Seeing were both newfies and it seems we are the only members of the forum who are we should remain in communication. PM me laters on luh.
